Open School is a community node of WikiEducators working together on the development of materials for school-level education that can be reused, remixed and repurposed without restriction. Open schooling uses high quality self-instructional materials drawing on the research and experience of open distance learning. The open schooling approach uses these self-instructional materials in conjunction with a system of tutorial support provided through local study centres. WikiEducator's open schooling initiative aims to:

• Build capacity among educators in using wiki methodologies for implementing open schooling approaches.
• Reduce the costs of producing self-instructional materials through international collaboration and a free content model.
• Make a substantive contribution to achieving universal access to school-level education using free content.

Open School Education

This system of education is especially for students who are weak in some subjects and cannot complete the final school examinations in one go as in the regular system of education. Open School permits a student to take exams for any number of subjects at a time as per the convenience of the student. Final school exams under the Open School system are held twice a year. This Open School facility enables students who are over aged and still in lower classes to complete their studies at a pace convenient for the student. The students under the Open School programme undergo additional training and have special classes arranged by as per method.
